TORONTO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Trevor Smith to a one-year contract and defenceman Rinat Valiev to a three-year entry-level deal. Smith, 29, played 28 games for the Maple Leafs last season, collecting nine points (four goals, five assists) with four penalty minutes.
